Delta Construction Trades

//

UNIT COMPANY was selected to construct the Design Build Delta Construction Trades project in Delta Junction, Alaska in March 2003.

Our firm was tasked with working with the Delta Greely School District to review program requirements, provide all design services and construct the 14,000 s.f. training facility.  The project is located in the rural community of Delta Junction, Alaska approximately 100 miles southeast of Fairbanks.

Our responsibilities included the complete design of the foundation and structure of the pre engineered metal building to meet all local and state codes. Included within our design scope was the complete mechanical / electrical and fire protection systems. We also coordinated the mechanical-electrical connections for all the owner furnished equipment which included industrial equipment associated with the various construction trades that the facility was designed to function as a teaching facility for.

The training facility included classrooms for teaching activities, offices for administrative functions, storerooms for the various tools associated with the construction trades and the code compliant bathrooms for the occupancy loading of the facility. We also included a second story mezzanine as bonus square footage for the facility to use as a storage area for teaching materials and accessories.

All work commenced and completed in one season with design work starting in March 2003 and the completion of construction occurring in December 2003.  We were able to utilize 100% of local hire from the Delta Junction Community to construct this project.
