Fort Greely Utility Building

The Utility Building serves as the main heating and electrical distribution plant for the Fort Greely Missile Site. In order to provide that heating and electrical capacity it was dependent upon utildor work by others to tie it to the various different facilities.  The building mechanical system had several design difficulties and the electirical system had significant changes as a result of increased RSE requirements.  There also was a significant scope of HEMP protection installed by others that was not adequately accounted for in the original schedule by Fluor Alaska Inc. Despite these challenges the facility was completed early and operational, under a accelerated work program, in time the meet the requirements of the overall missile defense project.
