ANC South Terminal Cooling Systems Upgrades

UNIT is currently leading the Design-Build team in renovating the Chillers and Cooling Towers at Ted Stevens International Airpoirt - Concourse B and Concourse C.
After demolition, the new cooling system at Concourse C will consist of two water cooled electric driven chillers, two closed circuit evaporative cooling towers, and associated pumps, configured in a primary-secondary arrangement on the chilled water side and constant flow primary on the condenser side. Two pumps will be provided on the evaporator and condenser side of the chillers. Three new secondary pumps will be provided, one as a standby. All pumps will be equipped with variable speed drives (VSDs), with the chiller primary and condenser side pumps operating at a constant speed. Cooling towers will have variable speed fans and constant speed spray pumps. The chilled water system piping will utilize treated water and the condenser side piping will utilize 40% ethylene glycol.
After demolition, the new cooling system at Concourse D will consist of three water cooled electric driven chillers, two closed circuit evaporative cooling towers, and associated pumps configured in a primary-secondary arrangement on the chilled water side and constant flow primary on the condenser side. Three pumps will be provided on the evaporator and condenser side of the chiller. Three new secondary pumps will be provided, two pumps to meet the system demand and a third pump as a standby unit. All pumps will be equipped with variable speed drives (VSD), with the chiller primary loop and condenser side pumps operating at a constant speed. Cooling towers will have variable speed fans and constant speed spray pumps. The chilled water system piping will be flushed and filled with treated water. The condenser side piping will be filled with 40% ethylene glycol.
